About

Yoooooooo!

I'm Jacob Risenhoover, an artist native to North Texas. my work currently consists of digital illustrations and photography. I love both mediums but illustration is where I have more drive.

CULT RIOT

Along with art, I want to create Tshirts, stickers, patches, and more in the future. I want to build a brand where someone can find that unique product that gives love to a subject that doesn't always get the attention it deserves.

Currently I am just selling my Art Prints and Stickers and my online store is only selling Art Prints. I am a Vendor at many shows here in the DFW area where you can come see me and my art in person. I post on Instagram and FB when I have an upcoming show, sooooo come see me some time and pickup some prints and stickers!

Photography

I work with film and digital cameras and some may find my photos to be more conceptual than anything. The main cameras I use are a Pentax K1000 35mm, Holga 120mm, Konstructor 35mm, Canon 6d, and a Canon t3i. Photography is a big part of my art. Learning how to frame up a shot has taught me how to build a good composition with the other art that I do and vice versa.

Illustrations

My illustrations consists of what you might consider fanart and original works. I mainly draw on a digital tablet using the program Clip Studio Paint, but I also create traditional art as well. There really is no big differences between the 2 in my eyes. Digital work allows me to dive into the details more.

I'm currently building my work around media that inspired by "CULT" followings. The media that my work draws from could be about ancient history, books, movies, tv shows, music, etc.. In most of these cases it is almost always obscure/non-mainstream media. My process consists of extensively researching the desired subject I want to work on, choosing what to include from my research, and creating the art the way I see it in my mind. I love to draw realistic and nonrealistic figures using dynamic perspectives. I tend to spend a lot of time on small details, but most of the time that is where the fun is for me. The work I am doing now on cult followings are meant to convey my personal interpretations of the media I am inspired by.

Even if you know nothing about the subject in my art, my hope is that my work can pull a person in and push them to learn more about the subject that inspired me to make the art in the first place.
